The commencement ceremony is the university's formal recognition and celebration of a graduate's accomplishment. As such, the university plans and provides an event that is designed to honor our graduates and appropriately mark a major milestone with their loved ones and family members. We hope and expect all graduates will attend the event.
Participation is not a requirement. But it is a requirement that graduates confirm with the Office of Registrar Services whether or not they are able to attend.
If you know you will not be able to attend commencement, the university still needs confirmation of your name and an address where you can receive your diploma and other contact information. Name change requests are managed by the Office of Registrar Services. The link below will allow you to provide the university with updated address information:
